SDS MODEL 72 SPRAY DRYER
The SDS Model 72
spray dryer is a larger version of our
Model 60 spray
dryer, with many of the same features and options. It is
used for evaporation rates to 345 lb/hr of water.
The drying chamber is 6 feet in diameter, with a typical
straight side of 12 feet.
The Model 72
spray dryer can
produce as high as 150 micron average particle size when using
pressure nozzle atomization in the
mixed-flow configuration, with little or no wall buildup.
When used with pressure nozzle atomization, the Model 72 is
especially effective in producing powders with improved "flowability",
tighter particle size distribution, and higher bulk density,
all with a higher overall yield when compared to two-fluid
nozzle and rotary atomization.
actual evaporation rate and maximum
average particle size achievable depends upon the feed being processed,
the site elevation, the air temperatures used for drying, and the nozzle configuration used.
Because the Model 72 system is typically mounted on structural
steel supports with stairs and access platforms, the overall height
and footprint can vary greatly depending upon the layout
preferred by the customer, the dryer's atomization
configuration, and if chamber solids separation is used.
A typical layout would be between 20-28' in overall height and
have a footprint of approximately 22' x 19'.
